
Ingredients for Making Chicken Stroganoff
- 2 chicken breast (boneless), cubed into large pieces
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp + 2tbsp maida
- 2 tbsp+tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3-4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 200gm mushrooms, finely sliced
- 1 chicken stock cube dissolved in 1 cup warm water
- 2 tsp mustard paste/sauce
- 1/4th cup cream or 4tbsp cream
Method for Making Chicken Stroganoff
- Marinate the chicken with salt, red chilli powder and garlic powder. Toss in 2tbsp maida till all the pieces are coated and dry. You can use more maida if required.
- Heat 2 tbsp butter in a pan, and add the chicken pieces. Turn the pieces once browned on the bottom side, and carefully turn to brown on all sides. Remove to a bowl.
- In the same pan, add 2 tbsp butter and add the onion and garlic. Fry until softened, do not brown. Add 2 tbsp maida and stir for a few seconds.
- Add the sliced mushrooms, mustard sauce and cook for a few minutes
- Add the chicken stock and deglaze the pan, scraping off all the bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Return the chicken to the pan and let it cook.
- Add the cream, and adjust the thickness of the gravy according to your liking, and adjust salt.
- Serve hot alongside herbed rice and sauteed vegetables.
