Before you begin

  • Time taken: 15 minutes to mix, 30 minutes to bake
  • Equipment needed: Loaf tin, spatula, oven, mixing bowl
  • Prep needed: grease a loaf baking tin with oil, and dust with atta

Ingredients for Making Whole-Wheat Vanilla Cake

  • 1 cup thick dahi
  • 3/4th cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1.5 cups whole wheat atta
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Method for Making Whole-Wheat Vanilla Cake

  1. In a mixing bowl, add thick dahi, sugar, vanilla essence and oil and whisk together. Keep aside for 10 minutes to allow the sugar to dissolve.
  2. Add baking powder, baking soda and whisk until it froths.
  3. Fold in the atta and mix well to avoid lumps.
  4. Transfer this to a greased and dusted loaf tin, and bake at 180 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes, demould, slice and serve warm.
