
Ingredients for Making Air-fryer Popcorn Chicken
- 2 boneless chicken breasts
- 3 tsp peri peri seasoning
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 cup maida
- 2 tsp oil
Method for Making Air-fryer Popcorn Chicken
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized cubes.
- Apply 2 tsp peri peri seasoning, salt, lemon juice, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder.
- Toss in 2-3 tbsp of maida till the chicken pieces look dry.
- To the remaining maida, sprinkle some water, mix it with your finger tips till it looks a little clumpy.
- Take a piece of chicken, dip it in a bowl of water, and dredge it in the maida mixture.
Tip: Vigorously shake till the edges are raggedy. The uneven edges are those that will form the crispy coating.
- Place it in the airfryer, drizzle some oil on top and air fry at the highest temperature until the chicken pieces are crispy.
- Remove to a plate and toss the remaining peri peri seasoning.
Note: instead of air-frying, these can be deep fried too. I find the air fried/baked version better as it is less oily.
